Christine thought when she was 5 that there was nothing beyond the beaches in Miami. Miami was the place where she was born and raised until she was 6 when her dad moved to New York for an editorial post in a local yet fairly successful magazine dealing with restaurants. Her bond with her dad got thick as thieves when her beloved mom, Marciana, passed away when she was 14 due to a heart attack. She tagged along with her dad on his biweekly visits to different restaurants in New York, which are completely diverse.
On the eve of her 18th birthday, her dad gave a round trip ticket to the south of France for a week. After that trip, she decided that her calling was not a 8-5pm job but a 365- day journey around the world. But trotting the globe was not as cheap as taking the subways so she got two jobs when she was 22, one as a waitress in a Jamaican restaurant during the day and a children’s book illustrator by night.
Two years of endless saving of every penny finally paid off and she was able to work as a production assistant in a locally-run tv station where she traveled with the crew to different states in this beautiful country. With her salary up, she now makes it a point to get out of the country at least once every two months.
